Compensation for a delayed Vueling flight

According to Cirium OTP Annual Review data, approximately 81.20% of Vueling flights in 2024 arrived on time. That means nearly 1 in 5 flights experienced delays — and many passengers may be entitled to claim compensation.

To be eligible:

• The arrival delay must be at least 3 hours

• The cause of the delay must have been within the airline's control (not extraordinary circumstances)

Compensation amounts:

• €250 – flights under 1,500 km

• €400 – flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km

• €400 – flights over 3,500 km (within the EU)

• €600 – flights over 3,500 km (departing from the EU to non-EU destinations)

Additionally, if the delay exceeds 2 hours, you are entitled to:

• Meals and beverages

• Free accommodation for overnight delays

• Transport between the airport and hotel

Compensation for a cancelled Vueling flight

You are entitled to compensation if:

• You were notified less than 14 days before departure

• You were not offered a suitable alternative flight

• The cancellation was due to reasons within the airline's responsibility

The amounts are the same as for delays: between €250 and €600.

⚠️ If you are offered an alternative flight arriving at a time close to the original, compensation may be reduced by up to 50%.

Denied boarding (overbooking) with Vueling

Overbooking is a common practice in the aviation industry. If you were involuntarily denied boarding, you are entitled to:

• Compensation between €250 and €600

• A ticket refund or rebooking

• Accommodation and meals, if necessary

Compensation amounts:

• €250 – up to 1,500 km

• €400 – 1,500–3,500 km

• €600 – over 3,500 km

Vueling refund policy

As a low-cost carrier, many Vueling fares are non-refundable.

What you need to know:

• There is a 2-hour grace period after booking during which you can cancel free of charge

• Basic, Optima, Family, Fly, and Fly Light fares do not allow standard refunds

• You can purchase the Flex Pack to be able to cancel up to 48 hours before your flight

When you can receive a refund:

• If Vueling cancels the flight and you decline the alternative

• If the delay exceeds 5 hours

• If you were denied boarding and choose a refund

• In cases of illness, bereavement, or a court summons (with supporting documents)

You are entitled to a partial reimbursement of your ticket price:

• 30% – flights up to 1,500 km

• 50% – flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km
